At least 60 Cambodian people were reported dead by cholera and diarrhea that occurred in 20 out of 24 provinces and cities across the country. The Ministry of Health said in a report that 60 people died of cholera and diarrhea among the 449 cases found this year.
It said, currently, 11 provinces and cities are still suffering from cholera and diarrhea, including Phnom Penh, and there are about 4,000 suspects of being touched with cholera and diarrhea.
To curb the epidemic, Cambodia has deployed 1,200 health agents who are able to quickly respond to the needs for help, and at the same time the Ministry of Health is advising people to take extra precaution on sanitation.
People are advised to drink clean or boiled water, avoid unclean foods that touched by flies, and to clean hands before having any meal, and sleep inside mosquito nets.
One of the reasons found, many villagers could not access to sufficient water and they just consume wherever water is available even though it is not clean, especially in dry season.
