Relatives mourned the death of Mr. Khim SamboReported in English by Khmerization
The American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has concluded sketches of the suspect or suspects of the murders of Moneaksekar Khmer journalist Khim Sambo and his son who were shot dead in broad daylight on 11th July 2008, but admitted they have received no information which can lead to the arrests of those suspects.
Mr. Laro Tan (pictured below), Head of FBI's Cambodia Office, said the FBI had provided all the sketches to the Cambodian police. He said FBI does not have jurisdiction to investigate the case. He added FBI was asked by the Cambodian police to assist them in sketching the suspects, but does not have the powers to launch an investigation by itself.

Journalist Khim Sambo was killed after he wrote an article critical of a senior government leader. According to an article published in the South China Morning Post, Khim Sambo's article was referring to the then Police Chief Hok Lundy.
Evidences of his murder, including sketches of suspects, have been widely publicised on national TVs and Radio but the police was not able to get any lead in the investigation.
Human Right groups and journalist groups claimed that since 1992, 12 journalists were murdered but the perpetrators have never been apprehended for the crimes.
