The Ministry of Interior plans to reshuffle the chiefs and deputy chiefs of its police department in light of an increase in the spates of violent robberies in recent weeks.
According to Deum Ampil, reliable sources from the Interior Ministry said on Sunday 6th September that most chiefs and deputy chiefs of its police department will be moved to another section or demoted with some new faces expected.
The reshuffle is expected to take place next week. Interior Minister Sar Kheng (pictured) seems to be unhappy with the ways the police is handling the levels of crimes in the capital recently.
With an increase in violent robberies in recent weeks, Phnom Penh Police Commissioner Touch Naroth warned his station commanders that they face the sack if the spates of robberies continue.
