Thousands of troops were on the streets of Thailand as a day of rival political protests continued into the night.
In Bangkok, the capital, the "red shirts", as they're known, were marking three years since the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was deposed.
While on the border with Cambodia, clashes broke out between nationalist protesters, known as the "Yellow Shirts", and police. Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports.
