Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva should change foreign policy and remove Foreign Affairs Minister Kasit Pirom after ending of Asean summit, spokesman of Puea Thai Party Prompong Nopparit said on Sunday.
“The failure to invited all ten leaders of Asean member countries to attend the summit’s opening ceremony showed that the government has no good relationships with neighbouring countries”, Mr Prompong said.
He said the failure was caused by Mr Abhisit’s decision to make Mr Kasit foreign affairs minister even though he realized that Mr Kasit faced terrorist charge by police.
Mr Kasit led the yellow-shirted supporters of the People’s Alliance for Democracy to lay siege to Suvarnabhumi international airport late last year.
Mr Prompong called on the government to be open-minded and open a chance for Gen Chavalit to help restore good relationships with other neighbouring countries to prevent border disputes from further escalating.
