Cambodia's government has appointed former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra as an economic adviser.
A statement on national television said Mr Thaksin would serve "as personal adviser" to the Cambodian prime minister and as adviser to the government on economic affairs.
The appointment, by royal decree, comes nearly two weeks after Cambodia leader Hun Sen angered Thailand by offering a safe haven to Mr Thaksin.
The former PM was ousted in a coup in 2006.
He has been in self-imposed exile ever since to avoid corruption charges.
