The Region2 Army chief insists that Thailand has not lost any territory to Cambodia as claimed by an Army specialist and reaffirms the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border near the Preah Vihear Temple remains normal with no incident of violence.
Region 2 Army Commander Lieutenant General Weewalit Jornsamrit said after presiding over a ceremony to pledge allegiance to His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 82nd birthday that the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border in Si Sa Ket province near the Preah Vihear Temple is still normal and there has been no incident that would lead to violence.
He said the Thai-Cambodian conflicts can be resolved through diplomatic means as villagers and soldiers on both sides of the border still have good relations and have been living together peacefully.
Lieutenant General Weewalit also denied the claim made by Major General Kattiya Sawatdiphol, an Army specialist better known as “Seh Daeng”, that Cambodians have taken over about 2,900 rai of Thai border land in the vicinity of Cambodia's Siem Reap province.
