PHNOM PENH, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- The Thai national Siwarak Chotipong who had been sentenced to seven years in prison for spying on Thailand's fugitive ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, was released from prison on Monday, following his pardon by King Norodom Sihamoni.
According to the Thailand news agency's report, Siwarak, an employee of Thai-owned Cambodia Air Traffic Services (CATS),who was serving his sentence in Preysar Prison since November 12, was freed with a royal pardon granted by King Sihamoni at Prime Minister Hun Sen's residence.
Siwarak was arrested by Cambodian police on November 12 on charges of espionage for passing information on Thaksin Shinawatra's flight details for his first visit as economic adviser to the Hun Sen government.
