The two countries mutually expelled their ambassadors last November, following a visit of Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Thai PM, to Cambodia.
Hor Nam Hong is ready to send back “without any condition” an ambassador to Thailand if Bangkok is reciprocating the action. He made this statement on Wednesday 07 April before his departure to Vietnam where a meeting of ASEAN representatives will take place.
“Since the expulsion of the ambassadors, the chargés d’affaires are the one who did the work,” Hor Nam Hong said.
This news comes following the meeting between Hun Xen and Suthep Thaugsuban, the Thai deputy PM, during the meeting of countries belonging to the Mekong River Commission in Thailand, last Sunday and Monday. During that occasion, Hun Xen promised not to allow Thaksin, his economic advisor, to visit Cambodia during the “Red Shirts” demonstration in Bangkok.
