Cambodia marks world telecommunication day

PHNOM PENH, May 18, 2010 (Xinhua) - Cambodia on Tuesday marked the 145th World Telecommunications and Information Society Day to help raise awareness of the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies as well as to improve society.
Representatives from the government and the country's telecommunications industry attended the event. The theme of this year's observance is "Better Cities, Better Life with ICTs".
The Kingdom of Cambodia was admitted to be the full membership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on April 10, 1952. This year is the first year since 1979 that has a chance to celebrate the world telecommunication day.
