The number of victims in the Water Festival stampede that occurred on the night of November 22 in Phnom Penh has risen to 456 people.
This is official information from a dedicated government commission.
According to preliminary reports, peculiarities in the construction of a bridge over the Mekong River, which caused it to rock, led to the panic and ensuing stampede.
Thursday has been declared a day of mourning in Cambodia.
Victims’ families will receive government compensation.
