The BoI had planned to take Thai investors looking for opportunities in Cambodia on a tour there later this month, Mrs Atchaka said.
“The road-show plan has to be indefinitely postponed because Thai investors were worried about their safety,” she said.
A large number of investors had earlier expressed interested in the trip, particularly in the garment industry, she said.
Thai businesses have already invested in the retail, hotel and telecommunications sectors in Cambodia.
On domestic investment, the BoI secretary-general said foreign investors understand that the ongoing political conflict in the country is just part of the democratic system.
“The prime minister’s promise to call an early general election in the first half of the year has not caused them any concerns,” said Mrs Atchaka.
She was confident applications for investment privileges would reach the 400 billion baht target this year.
Applications for last year totalled 470 billion baht.
