HAIKOU, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tropical storm Goni has left six dead and another 16 missing as of Tuesday in south China's island province of Hainan, the provincial emergency management office said.
One more body was retrieved at around 2 p.m. at Yangpu Port, and the dead was confirmed to be a fisherman from the fishing boat "Qiongdanzhou 00301," officials said.
The missing include one fisherman on the "Qiongdanzhou 00301, another eleven on the "Qiongdanzhou 00878", and four crew members on a Cambodian vessel, they said.
In addition to deploying vessels to search for the missing on the sea, the government has also mobilized about 600 villagers to search along the coastline, the provincial search and rescue center said.
Goni, the seventh storm to hit China, landed in Hainan Wednesday and left China at 5 p.m. Sunday.
It toppled more than 575 houses and damaged 2,311, and inundated 68,000 hectares of cropland, officials said.
