Mr. Rong Chhun (pictured), president of the Cambodian Independent Teachers Association, said he has no confidence that the meeting from 3-4 August between Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and his Thai counterpart, Mr. Kasit Piromya, on border issues will produce any results.
Mr. Hor Namhong told reporters before he left for Thailand on Sunday that he will raise the issues of border delimitation with his counterpart in order to resolve the border issues as quickly as can be done.
However, Mr. Rong Chhun said that he has no confidence at all that this meeting, like previous meetings, will yield any significant positive outcomes. He said: "I don't have any confidence that this meeting will be a success because all previous meetings have resulted in nothing."
He added: "It should be enough. This is not the first meeting, there were numerous meetings in the past which have rsulted in a waste of time and money."
He appeals to the government to stop engaging in any more bilateral negotiations with Thailand and instead opt for an international judicial resolution with the involvements of the international community.
