Supreme Council of Magistracy proposed the increases of judges' salary

The Cambodian Supreme Council of Magistracy has tabled a series of proposals, including the increases of the judges' salary, in its meeting chaired by the king in the Royal Palace on 29th July.

King Sihamoni (pictured), who is the chairman of the Council, convened the meeting to examine a series of proposals put forward by the Ministry of Justice for the reform of the judicial system proposed by the government.

In the meeting, Justice Minister Ang Vong Vathana who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, had tabled a series of wide-ranging judicial reform to be approved by the king.

The reform proposals include a list of the names of old judges who will be compulsorily retired, a proposal for awarding royal honours to certain Phnom Penh and provincial judges, the proposal for the increases of judges' salary and the proposal for the employment of the third batch of judicial students graduating from the Royal Academy of Judicial Profession.

After two hours of discussion, the king closed the meeting by praising all the members of the Council who had actively debated and approved the proposals.
