A joint operation between the Australian Federal Police and Cambodian authorities has seen the disposal of 15 tonnes of Safrole oil, which is used in the manufacture of the illegal drug MDMA.
The operation was revealed as AFP Commissioner Tony Negus unveiled a new structure for fighting organised crime.
He says the changes are in line with recommendations from the Beale review of the service, but says they will not take resources away from areas like counter-terrorism.
Commissioner Negus says it is hoped the new arrangements will see more joint operations like the one in Cambodia.
