Road accidents had killed at least 911 people in Cambodia in the
first five months of this year, a 3 percent decrease from 939 deaths in
the same period last year, showed the reports of the Ministry of Public
Work and Transport on Tuesday.
The reports recorded that there had been 2,053 road accidents
happened from January to May this year, a 16 percent decrease from 2,451
cases in the same period last year.
Besides the deaths, the accidents had injured other 3,540 people, down 17 percent from 4,293 people, it said.
Preap Chan Vibol, director of the Ministry’s Transport Department,
said that the accidents had been mainly caused by over- speed driving,
alcohol driving, and neglect driving.
Traffic accidents had killed had claimed 1,890 human lives in the country last year.
