Yim Sovann, SRP MP and spokesman, indicated that during a meeting of SRP party officials on Monday 03 August, the SRP agreed to let Mrs. Mu Sochua decide whether to pay or not to pay the fines imposed on her should the Phnom Penh municipal court rule against her. “We will allow her to maker her own decision,” The Cambodia Daily quoted Yim Sovann as saying. Yim Sovann also indicated that it is up to Mrs. Mu Sochua to decide whether to continue her legal case against Hun Sen in the event she would be declared guilty. Earlier, the SRP announced that it would pay Mrs. Mu Sochua’s fine in order to end her legal battle with Hun Sen. “The party has made a joint decision that we have given her rights to clarify all points [in her lawsuit case],” The Cambodia Daily quoted opposition leader Sam Rainsy as saying. Following her guilty verdict handed down by the court, Mrs. Mu Sochua told Radio Australia that she will fight her defamation verdict. “I want to put justice on trial,” Mrs. Mu Sochua added while indicating that her chance to win the appeal looks dark.
