The situation at the Thai-Cambodian border near Ta Muan Thom temple in Surin province has returned to normal but locals are still worried about the possiblity of Thailand losing its sovereignty.
The situation in Surin's Phnom Dongrak district has returned to normal after tension along the Thai-Cambodian border eased as a result of the cancellation of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Ta Muan Thom temple yesterday.
The cancellation has prompted the gathering of members of the People's Alliance for Democracy to protest against his visit to peacefully disperse.
Although the situation seems to have returned to normal, villagers are still closely monitoring the situation as they fear the Ta Muan Thom case will be like the case of Preah Vihear Temple. Local villagers are worried that they will be barred from entering the temple and its surrounding areas, which are their farmland.
