The chairman of opposition Pheu Thai Party has defended his party's sincerity to help resolve conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia while suggesting that the prime minister refrain from giving sensitive comments that could affect the bilateral relations.
Pheu Thai Party chairman General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh denied that his party is trying to steal the show from the government by trying to resolve political tension between Thailand and Cambodia ap0s well as offering help to the Thai engineer detained in a Phnom Penh prison.
He also would not comment on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's recent derisive remarks against Thailand but expressed belief that the relations between the two countries will improve if the government takes the right steps.
In response to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's statement that Hun Sen's harsh stance is a result of misinformation, Chavalit said the prime minister should not make such an assumption because it might deteriorate the situation.
